      Planche.p.24l.In South Transept at Church at Ashe."Near unto this monument lyes the bodye of Richard Hougham-gent, late of Weddington,of this Parlsh.and Elizabeth, his wife,who was the daughter of Edward Sanders of Norton near Sandwich ,gent. Which said Richard and Elizabeth had issue, three sonnes and one daughter (viz) Michael, Edward.Solomon and Ann.The aforesaid Michael and Ann are also interred here.
      This moumnent was erected according to the last will and testament of the aforesaid Ann Hougham deceased,who was baptized 17 th of January AD 1601 and departed this natural life the 9th of June 1661 "If grace and virtue oould have deified Here is interred a maide who nere had dyd. Her charity on earth, that put her love on heaven fltt only for the Saints above,Let these frayle ashes a memento be, Her life a pattern and. a legacy."

      Folio 103.Will proved. 2l Jany.l66l,- "Anne Hougham,precincts of Canterbury,spinster ,wills to be buried in Church of Ash,on the right side of the grave there of her father Mister Richard Hougham,and her Mother,Mrs Elizabeth Hougham, who both lie interred in one grave there,near to which also lie her brother Mr Michael Hougham,and as near as may be and opposite to the said grave of her father and Mother might be erected a suitable monument with inscription of them, their quality and children,at the price of 30 or 40 pound.——she names her brother Mr Edward Hougham-her niece Elizabeth Francke(widow)her Aunt Mrs Francis Sanders,(wid.)Nathaniel and Joshua Lasher sons of her niece Margaret Lasher,decd. Anne.Elizabeth,and Mary Bettenham,daughters of John Bettenham,gent,and Anna his wife-her late niece,deceased.Richard and Thomas Follard,sons of her niece Anne Follard of London(widow).Francis daughter of said Anne Follard,Margaret and Anne Francke,daughters of her cousin Elizabeth Francke,her nephew Solomon Hougham son of her brother Solomon,which said brother was then beyond the sea-Solomon son of her nephew Henry Hougham, Ann Hougham daughter of her nephew Mr William Hougham of London,Susan,Elizabeth,Margaret.Bennett,and Magdaline,daughters also of her nephew Mr William Hougham, and Michael youngest son of William at age of 21.-then to his father William,Richard and Henry Hougham her nephews,sons of her brother Solomon." . •
      Note;-The above is full of valuable genealogical material,and has been of great use in connecting this family line. Anne Hougham who drew up the will was not married—being single,and having no sisters.her nieces and_nephews were of her brothers,—so the Lasher and Follard family would be the daughters of her nephew William Hougham of London.
