    Notes
    • Arthur William Vienna VIENNA, Arthur William Our beloved father, Art, was born in Fresno on May 3, 1920. He grew up in Los Angeles where he met and married our late mother, Bea, in 1941. They continued to live in Los Angeles as well as in Lake Arrowhead and Temecula. Dad died on May 16, 2009 after a brief illness. He was laid to rest in a private family service. Our patriarch had a radiant smile and a twinkle in his eye for everyone. He was a self-educated man who sought out mentors and who read voraciously. He began his business career in the early 1940's at the Deutsch Company. In 1944, our father was honorably discharged from the army for the sole purpose of returning as manager at the Company as it had been awarded military contracts. In the early 1950's, Dad began his own business, California Spring Company, and later purchased Los Angeles Die Casting Company. As his businesses thrived, he devoted himself to his family as well as to civic interests in which he could mentor and serve others. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board and as Chairman of the Board of Orthopaedic Hospital. He was a member of the Jonathon Club Los Angeles, Lake Arrowhead Country Club, and Lakeside Country Club where he served as President from 1971-1972. Dad was very proud to be a member of the Young Presidents Organization. In 1966, he was the chairman of the week-long convention in Phoenix, Arizona. One of our parents' greatest pleasures was the 47 years our family spent on Lake Arrowhead. Family and friends enjoyed the warmth of their hospitality and wonderful joie de vivre. Dad had loved boating and skiing but the beautiful view from his lakeside terrace brought him special joy. We lovingly remember our patriarch as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend. We will miss him each and every day of our lives. Our devoted protector leaves us, his loving and beloved family - his children Terry Vienna, Cheryl (Brian) Adler, and Debbi Vienna; his grandchildren Camilla and Alexis Adler, Christopher John Adam Vienna, Jenifer and Julia Baum, Evelyn (Abe) Lelevier, and Carrie Andersen; great-grandchildren Meagan Wurl and Branden Andersen; brother Duane (Marge, and late wife, Nancy), and sister Marlene Hougham; nieces and nephews. Our father was one of the greats of the "Greatest Generation".
