    • This is the last will and testament of me Rebecca Hougham of the parish of St Martin near and without the walls of the City of Canterbury widow and relict of William Hougham the elder of St Martins aforesaid esquire deceased First I devise to be decently buried but without any vain pomp or parade in the parish church of St Martin aforesaid as near to the remains of my said deceased husband as may be and as to such worldly estate with which it hath pleased god to bless me I give devise bequeath and dispose of the same as follows that is to say I give devise and bequeath unto my niece Miss Cecelia Phillips daughter of my sister Sarah Phillips her heirs executors administrators and assigns all that my one fifth part or share of and in a certain annuity or yearly rent charge of Twenty pounds issuing and payable out of a certain farm and lands called Watters otherwise Walters in the parish of Moulton in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent and all my estate and right title and interest in and to the same annuity or rent charge hereditments and premises also I give and bequeath unto my niece Cecelia the wife of Mr xxxx a lieutenant in the Royal Navy and her assigns the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money of great Britain also I give and bequeath unto Mrs Austen widow of my late deceased brother John Austen the sum of ten pounds of like lawful money also I give and bequeath unto my niece Frances now the wife of Mr William Chandler of Canterbury aforesaid surgeon and her assigns the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money and also all my books and the four bookcases in which they usually stand and also my escritoire standing in the parlour my diamond keep ring my pearl broach containing the hair of my said late husband my pictures and the frames and glasses appertaining to the said pictures my best white bed with the bedsteads bedding and xxxx to the same respectively belonging except blankets and sheets also I give and bequeath unto my Godson Mr William Richford of London the sum of fifty pounds of like lawful money also I give and bequeath to Miss Jane Turfer the sister of my late deceased friend the Reverend John Turfer the sum of five guineas for a mourning ring and also my broach marked XX also I give and bequeath to my friend Mrs Martha Dix the widow of the reverend Joshua Dix the sum of five pounds of like lawful money also I give and bequeath to my servant Sarah xxxx if in my service at the time of my decease the sum of ten pounds of like lawful money also I give and bequeath my xx watch unto my niece Miss Mary Austen also I give and bequeath unto William John Chesshyre the infant son of John Chesshyre esquire a Captain in the Royal Navy by Catherine Chesshyre his wife all my plate to and for his own use and benefit also I give and bequeath unto my sister Miss Mary Austen my executrix herein after named my mahogany dressing table with the drawers therein standing in my bedroom my large blue screen made by my brother Charles Austen and also all my household linen except only as herein otherwise disposed of to and for her own use and benefit also I give and bequeath all my china unto my sisters the said Mary Austen Elizabeth Austen and Sarah Phillips and to my said niece Frances the now wife of the said William Chandler equally to be divided between them share and share alike and lastly I do hereby give and bequeath all my monies in the public stocks or funds of this kingdom monies out at interest or upon security household furniture and all other my goods chattels personal estate and effects whatsoever not herein before by me otherwise disposed of subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses the charges of proving and carrying into execution this my will and of the several primary legacies hereinbefore given and bequeathed unto my four sisters the said Sarah Phillips Mary Austen Elizabeth Austen and Celia Young equally to be divided between them share and share alike and to their several and respective executors administrators and assigns and I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said sister Mary Austen the sole executrix of this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all former and other wills and testamentary papers by me at any time hereunto made I do publish and declare this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Rebecca Hougham the testatrix have to this my have to this my last will and testament in three sheets of paper contained set my hand and seal that is to say to the first two sheets thereof my hand and to the third and last sheet thereof my hand and seal the twenty-second day of October in the fifty first year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the Third by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and eleven (RH) signed sealed published and declared by the said Rebecca Hougham the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses William Gage gardener to Mrs Pyott of St Martins Canterbury xxx Marshall of Canterbury Carpenter xxx Sandys Solicitor Canterbury
