      Inherited Barton Court

      In 1902 Major- General John Cecil Russell and Colonel of the 12th Lancers acquired Barton Court and lived there until his death. his widow and daughters remained there until the second world war. In 1941 the house was taken over by the corporation and sub-let to the education authority, for the Canterbury Technical High School for Girls. It was finally bought in 1945.
