      In the name of God Amen I Jane Hougham in the parish of a Tenterden in the county of Kent widow being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praise be to God for the same do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and the charges of proving this my will be fully paid and satisfied I give and bequeath all my plate to be equally divided between my five children Josiah Hougham Mary Hougham Ralf Hougham Amelia Hougham and Eliza the wife of Thomas Huntley of the parish of Ulcombe in the same county. I give and bequeath unto my good friend William Lonley the older of the parish of Tenterden aforesaid gentleman all the money that shall be in the Tenterden savings bank at the time of my decease during the term of his natural life upon his special trust and confidence (that is to say) that he the said William Lonley shall permit my said daughter Amelia Hougham to receive and take the interest thereof during the term of her natural life for her own absolute use and benefit and from and immediately after her decease I give and bequeath the same with the interest due thereof to my grandson Thomas Huntley (son of my son in law Thomas Huntley of Ulcombe aforesaid) absolutely and for ever to be paid to him when he shall attain the age of twenty-one years and in case of the death of the said William Lonley before my said daughter Amelia or my grandson the said Thomas Huntley shall have attained the age of twenty-one years aforesaid then I direct and my will is that if my daughter Amelia should be living she shall choose a respectable person as trust for the said money to see that the same is applied in the way and manner above directed and in case of her death before the decease of the said William Lonley then my said grandson Thomas Huntley shall choose a respectable person as trust for the same until he shall have attained the age of twenty-one years. The rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects not hereinbefore disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto my daughter Amelia Hougham her heirs and assigns for ever and I hereby nominate and constitute and appoint the said William Lonley the sole executor of this my last will and testament and my will is that the said William Lonley shall not be liable to make good any loss that shall or may happen to the said trust money unless such loss happen through his wilful neglect and default and my will further is that the said William Lonley shall have reasonable satisfaction for his time and trouble he may have and the cost and charges he may be at or put unto for or by reason of the trust hereby in him reposed and lastly I hereby revoke and make void all former and other will or wills by me at any other time heretofore made and do declare this present writing in this single sheet of paper to be and contain my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Jane Hougham testatrix have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and twenty six (JH) Signed sealed published and declared by the said Jane Hougham the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have set and subscribed our names as witness thereto the interlineations of the word “thereto” being first duly acknowledged.
