      Obituary: James Austin Hufham Jr., 86, died Friday, April 9th at Loris Community Hospital in Loris, S.C. He was the son of James A. Hufham and Attie Peterson Hufham. He was born in Wilmington, N.C., and spent some of his early years on Wrightsville Sound. His family moved to Clarkton when his father was transferred there as the depot agent for the Seaboard Railroad. Mr. Hufham graduated from Clarkton High School and received a degree in Business Administration from Presbyterian College. He completed Banking School at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
      Mr. Hufham began his banking career in Clarkton with Waccamaw Bank. He came to Tabor City in 1941 to serve as assistant cashier there. During his life he had the opportunity to work in many of the bank's branches After thirty-five years in banking he retired as Senior Vice President and head of what was then United Carolina Bank in Tabor City.
      James Hufham was a charter member of Tabor City Presbyterian Church, having been responsible for the organization and building of the church. He was elected an Elder of the church in 1944, served as Superintendent of the Sunday School for over thirty years, taught Sunday School as well as helped with Youth Trips. Mr. Hufham was named Elder Emeritus when his health failed. He was twice elected to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., the highest court of the |church. This is the greatest honor a lay member of the church can receive. His heart was always in every phase of the churches life, until his health faltered.
      Mr. Hufham, was a longtime member of the Rotary Club. He served as President of the Rotary Club as well as the Chamber of Commerce.
      He was a quiet and very civic-minded gentleman. He was a person of the highest integrity, a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor life. His greatest joy however, was to be a friend to his fellow man.
      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, at the Tabor City Presbyterian Church, Rev. Robert Ray will officiate.
      Burial will follow in the Clarkton Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
      Mr. Hufham is survived by his wife, Blan Elkins Hufham of the home; his son, James A. Hufham III of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; his brother, Ernest Hufham of Clarkton; and one grandchild.
      Serving as pallbearers will be Clifford Gore, Marion Baxter, Nelson Lee, John Harrellson, Dr. W.D. Stout, and Gene Burroughs.

      Obituary: Mrs. Alla Bess Allen Neuschafer, 77, of 6328 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, died Tuesday, April 24, 2000, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
      Mrs. Neuschafer was born February 27, 1923, in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Addie Hufham Allen. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and had retired from the Shoe Shack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Neuschafer in 1982.
      Survivors include her sons, Joseph Neuschafer and wife Sharon of Wilmington, Harry W. Kerber and wife Sheri of Baltimore, MD; her daughter, Debbie Hankins and husband Harry of Wilmington; two brothers, Noah W. Allen and Jack W. Allen, both of Wilmington; two sisters, Ann Crawford of Delco and Madelyn Abrams of Wilmington; and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Richard, Amy, Kimberly, William and Sarah.
      Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2000, in the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, by the Reverend Dr. James D. Whetstone. The interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
      The family will receive friends at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the home of her son, Joseph, at 519 Tibbys Drive, Wilmington, NC 28411.

      MRS. MARCELINE CROOM REYNOLDS
      Mrs. Marceline Croom Reynolds of Boiling Spring Lakes died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at her residence.
      She was born on November 24, 1926, in Freeman, N.C., daughter of the late Troy Winfield and Nessie Lennon Croom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Reynolds, and a sister, Patricia Croom Hufham.
      Mrs. Reynolds was a member of First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes for over 30 years. She was the Postmaster of Boiling Spring Lakes for 34 years.
      Surviving are her sister, Mary Ann Fowler and husband, James, of Freeman, NC; a brother, T.W. Croom Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Riegelwood, NC; a brother-in-law, James W. Hufham of Freeman, NC; three nieces, Frances Bordeaux Willetts and Sharon Rose, both of Wilmington, NC, and Susan Furr of Myrtle Beach, SC; four nephews, James W. Hufham, James C. Fowler and Ray Croom, all of Delco, NC, and T.W. Croom III of Maryland; two great-nieces, Sarah Bordeaux Squires of Delco, NC, and Patricia James Griffith of Wilmington, NC; and two great-nephews, Travis Fowler of Tennessee and Fred Rose of Naples, FL.
      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 1999, at First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes by Rev. Troy Knight and Rev. Avery Lumsden. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
      The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes.
