    Notes

    • Oliver Raymond Wyatt, 1907-1976, (Born in Pender, Thurston Co., NE)(Buried in Riceville, Howard Co., IA) Olie (all-lee) as he was called until his work as a farm laborer took him into Minnesota among Swedish farm workers who renamed him Ole (Oh-lee). Ole was accidentally shot with a shotgun in one leg while riding a motor cycle which crashed into the stone steps of a Church, severely injuring the other leg as well. From then on, he seemed to limp on both legs. Often working in saw mills cutting lumber, Ole managed to lose 1 finger on one hand and 2 on the other. It is an inside joke to the family that 0le dated the same girl for 37 years before he married her. Fortunately his laid back, good natured, personality absorbed all of the teasing he got for all this. Oliver was 'the' big brother for all of his younger siblings and he helped his father on the home farm until about 1940, then worked in construction as a cat skinner" (caterpillar operator)(tracked vehicle with a large blade across the front) the remainder of his work life.
