Leonard William is a retired banker, from Scarborough,.England, and is acquainted with the Berwick on Tweed branch. He has a cousin Francis(male)living at Kirkella,Hull,Eng and his son Jack Leonard also lives at Hull (1934).

Edward Valentine Huffam of Berwick on Tweed mentioned Leonard William to me(M.H.Pratt] as a relative, and Timothy Blake of New Zealand also spoke of him as a distant relative—from ths foregoing letters I place Leonard on the Limehouse Branch, and by keep acquiring these new clues and following them in have been able to establish connections with branch after branch.(M.H.P)

The announcement of engagement of Miss Constance Marian Huffam-only daughter of Captain Leonard Wm, was printed in a N.England paper of 10 Nov.1934 as follows "The announcement of the engagement of Capt.J.P.Huffam of the Duke of Wellington Regt.,a holder of the Victoria Cross is announced today." Capt. Huffam who is the youngest son of E.V.Huffam of Berwick on Tweed is to marry.Miss Marian Huffam only daughter of Captain Leonard William Huffam of Cloughton,Scarborough, and formerly of Malton". (sent to me by Ed.V.Huffam)

To Timothy Huffam of New Zealand Leonard wrote "The Regt.goes to Malta on Jany 7 and I shall take Marian -out in April to be married, then I shall return home for the summer and perhaps travel again next October,so you may see me again".

To me Leonard wrote, sending me an invitation to his daughter's wedding, and stating he knew of no relationship between his daughter and the bridegroom.{From my links I was able to show him where the two branches met and extract from his letter"ln Sydney ,New South Wales I met Arthur Huffam, age about 70 of age and he had a brother there, a dear old gentleman whose family originally came from Somersetshire, but he did not seem to know much of the family history".
Many letters passed between myself and Leonard William, then during war our correspondence ceased, and later I received a letter from James Palmer Huffam and his wife Marian'( Leonard's daughter, telling that Leonard had"crossed the divide in July l945".{M.H.Pratt)
